I managed to get to Danville again to see the monthly Blackhawk Cars and Coffee gathering, and take pictures of some awesome pieces of machinery! Even though I was late (the show was wrapping up early-more on this in a bit), I managed to spend some quality time shooting portraits of several cars, including a continuation-series GT40 owned by a fellow Washingtonian!
Later during the show, I found out that there are rumors going around about how the city of Danville is trying to shut down the whole event. As it turns out, the City Council is afraid of lost revenue for the plaza when the event is taking up most of the parking, and the Danville Police Department wants it shut down because exhibitionists are speeding through local neighborhoods and violating noise ordinances. This is probably the reason why so many people were leaving early (or it could be the heat wave we had that weekend). These photos might be the last I see of Blackhawk unless the Museum figures out what to do next.
I hope they figure something out soon, otherwise we’ll lose one of the best car meets on the West Coast!
